What we do
The sacristan (who must also be an Extraordinary Minister of Holy Communion) is responsible for preparing the altar for worship prior to each Mass or other liturgical service. This includes outfitting the credence table with sufficient wine and hosts for the service along with the appropriate number of patens, cups, purificators, hand towels, bowls, pitchers or other liturgical items needed; the sacristan also sees to it that all items are cleaned and put away following the liturgy.
How often we meet
There are no regular meetings for the sacristans. Any “meetings” are after their respective Masses.
Time commitment other than meetings
Each sacristan is responsible for 2 - 4 weekend Masses per month; preparation time for each Mass should be less than a half-hour.
